Easy Wood Carving for Children: Fun Whittling Projects for Adventurous Kids

Actual fun and achievable projects for kids
I don’t buy many how-to books for kids because the projects are either overly simple or obtuse or uninteresting. This gives excellent projects that are actually useful, inspiring and creative.

Projects you can actually do.
Homeschool mother of five here. We love all the crafts. But to be honest, a lot of books like this have a handful of projects that are doable and a bundle of projects you would never do. This book is NOT that way. I was was so pleased when I flipped through this book to find almost every project was something a kid could and would actually do. Dozens of projects from little animals, game pieces, toys like spinning tops etc... I purchased a wood working folding pocket knife made by OLD TIMER to accompany this as a gift and couldn't be happier.

VERY EASY projects. Mostly uses scrap wood, branches and paint.

As advertised.
They are what they are advertised to be. Haven't had the opportunity to use them, just glanced at them. The person that delivered them tossed them about 15 feet instead of putting them in the box they were supposed to put in. She was on her phone. Didn't want to walk the 15 extra feet.

Awesome project ideas for kids
My teen son was very excited with the projects in this book. They are very easy to understand and the pictures help inspire their creativity.

This is my future
My son (9) is really into whittling and I wanted to get him a guide. I think these will be great projects for him. I don't let him do this inside so when spring rolls around i know he will be making some things. I'll post his creations when he makes them.

Good inspiration, not great “how to” details.
I got this book for my 9 year old son to start whittling. The book has a lot of good ideas. However, it seems this book mostly has ideas for twig and branch whittling, not from block wood that he was trying out first. The “how to” instructions are not very detailed. So for inspiration this is a great book. But not so helpful with the details. There are lots of color photos of images.
