Use the conditioner that goes with this shampoo for maximum effect.
I have been struggling with dandruff for over a decade and I had OCD so not only was dandruff just embarrassing it would cause me more anxiety cause. I constantly felt like I needed to pick my scalp to get the flakes off (I literally had bleeding sores from doing this). When I say I felt like I tried everything I mean it. The only product that came close to resolving it was Nizoral however the results were mixed.I feel like the key is to combined this with the anti-dandruff Cerave conditioner that has the same active ingredient. I feel like most anti-dandruff shampoos give mixed results because some people use conditioners afterwards that actually wash away the active ingredient. The anti-dandruff Cervae conditioner has the same active ingredient as it's shampoo which is really difficult to find conditioners with active ingredients in the first place. As far as it's performance as a shampoo alone it gets the job done my hair feels clean and the co-conditioner makes it feel soft. It might not compare to some more luxury/premium products however if you are incline to use those you can just use these once or twice a week just to keep the dandruff a bay. Also NO SMELL. I know some people like to have nice smells however the fact that it's fragrance free means no irritation for those who are sensitive to perfumes but you can add your own preferred scent afterwards.

Affordable, effective, and fragrance FREE!
As someone reactive to most fragrances, this new product is a GODSEND. This is the ONLY affordable zinc shampoo on the market that’s also fragrance free. I couldn’t find anything and I’ve been looking quite actively. Consequently I was so excited when Cerave came out with this line. And it has fixed everything, which is such a relief. So thanks Cerave for delivering a product that was sorely needed. And better, making something that I can actually afford to use it as a daily shampoo. I was using TSAL which is a good product in itself but its active ingredient wasn’t addressing the root of my issue perfectly and oh my goodness is that little bottle pricy.I will admit my hair is a little flat using it as my daily but my alternative has been volume and a horrible itchy scalp so I’ll take it. And honestly, that’s probably more the hard water I shower in. If I was using this in soft water I suspect it wouldn’t even be an issue. And it is gentle enough to use daily which is a huge plus. Speaking of — another point for actually being able to work in hard water! So many shampoos leave my hair greasy no matter how much I wash it and I would have to use a clarifying shampoo to remedy it. Not so with Cerave!

Finally a dandruff shampoo that works and leaves my hair soft and undamaged
I have used Head and Shoulders for years to control my itchy, flakey scalp which it did but it left my hair like straw. I use Cerave facial cleansers and love them so I was excited when they came out with an anti-dandruff shampoo. It works just as well if not better than H&S but also leaves my hair soft and conditioned.

Didn’t help me much but its a great product for people with regular dandruff.
I decided not to give it a bad review based on the fact that I know people that this product actually helped. Unfortunately for me this product did help as much as it has for others. Turns out my issue was a little more severe than what this product can do for me and I had to reach out to my dermatologist. I can say my hair actually lived this product between this and my homemade hair mask my hair has been extremely soft, easy to work with (I have 4b hair), and very manageable. My scalp is just the issue in which needs more than this. Overall great product and I will continue to use with the addition of my prescription shampoo and other meds prescribed.

Love it!
I have been struggling with my dandruff since I was a kid. So I know how hard it is to have to deal with dandruff, and honestly I have to say this product is amazing! The first time I tried it; it removed my the dandruff that was laying on top of my hair. I’ve been using it now for 2 weeks. I am so happy and relieved this shampoo worked!!! I also bought the conditioner it does leave your hair super soft, but I also noticed even without the conditioner, the shampoo leaves your hair really soft. I just wish it had some kinda of nice scent to it(I love when my hair smells good). But other than that I love it! Will continue to use it!!!

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I use their face wash and toner. Since using I have noticed no flakes and my scalp doesn't itch like it use to. Safer to use on colored hair. Highly recommend this product.

Still Waiting for Results – Hoping for Improvement
I've been using the CeraVe Hydrating Anti-Dandruff Shampoo consistently for a little over a month now, and while I appreciate some of its qualities, I can’t say I’ve seen a significant change in my dandruff condition. I initially bought it because I trusted the CeraVe brand and liked the idea of a more gentle, hydrating formula that includes ceramides, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid—ingredients that are usually great for skin health. To its credit, the shampoo is non-irritating and doesn’t strip moisture from my scalp or hair. It lathers decently for a sulfate-free formula and has a mild, non-offensive scent. My scalp feels clean after use, and there’s no dryness or tightness, which I’ve experienced with harsher anti-dandruff products in the past. However, in terms of actual dandruff control, the results have been underwhelming. I still notice flakes. I was hoping that with consistent use, I’d see visible improvements, but after a month, my scalp condition seems more or less the same. It's possible this formula works better for those with very mild or occasional dandruff, but for persistent flaking and itchiness, it might not be strong enough as a standalone solution. I do appreciate the focus on scalp health, but I may need to switch back to a more proven active ingredient or medicated option for better results.Overall: not bad, but not effective enough for me — 3 stars.
