So delicious and did NOT trigger my (severe) gluten allergy!
I have looked for all-rye bead forever in local stores in US. I finally thought of trying Amazon and here it is! I am so excited to find food that does not trigger my gluten allergy and also is delicious. Even the "gluten free" breads I can buy here sometimes trigger my allergy, due to over-processing and added mystery ingredients, and they all taste like cardboard. Not this wonderful bread, which is both delicious and healthy! I read one review saying it was not good for sandwiches. Good grief, then just go buy the junk on the shelves (sorry). Each loaf has 7 thin, dense slices that work just fine for open sandwiches and such. I have eaten it plain, toasted with butter, with scrambled eggs, mashed avacados, and plan to try toasted with sardines, cream cheese with smoked salmon, etc. Another good thing is that is so nutritious and dense that it fills you up quickly. It keeps well in the fridge in an air-tight container, thus I I plan to get six loaves the next time...I would put it on auto-ship but don't trust Amazon not to throw it in a big box with other things, based on my past experience, but enough of that. If you are looking for healthy, flavorful bread that keeps well, this is it! If you have gluten allergies, try the two loaves and test. I hope you love it as much as I do. This makes me want to move to Germany. Yes, it's that good. Guten tag!

I'm crazy about this bread!
I'm crazy about this bread -- and so glad we have access to it know that we no longer live near a Whole Foods market. Tons of fiber and protein. Delicious.

Got symptoms of food borne illness
I wanted to contact the seller directly but Amazon does not provide an option so I’m writing the review instead and hopefully the seller sees this. There is something wrong with this product. My husband and I both had a bad reaction to this bread. We both had gastrointestinal issues; stomach pain, bloat, vomiting and diarrhea. We know it’s the bread because it’s the only new thing in our diet and we have not eaten outside the house in 2 weeks. The expiration date is still valid 8/8/25. It tasted good. I’m not sure if the problem is how they store it in the warehouse. I’m in AZ and I know those warehouses get very hot and no A/C.Unfortunately I bought a 6 pack.

Black bread
It was delicious. We used one loaf and put other one in freezer.

An old favorite, still high quality
We called it "German black bread" in my family, and I came to love it as a child. Now that I need more fiber in my diet, its 9 grams per slice offer an easy way to satisfy a big chunk of that requirement while making me a bit nostalgic about my German father and days long gone by. Lightly toasted with fiber-rich hummus makes it somehow more delicious. I have subscribed, so no gaps in supply . . . yet.

Not as expected
It's another way of making this bread, but too much oil and water. Not tasty to my like. A little drier would help cut it easier.

Just what I expected. Not stale.

Rough texture / whole grain
I've enjoyed this bread form Amazon and elsewhere.Having nothing to do with my rating, but hopefully useful for other customers:This is not the bread that most people in the US is are used to. It is VERY dense and a very different consistency, VERY whole grain (rough), so may not be what many like. Slices are VERY thin. This also make it more likely to crumble, sometimes get moldy too, in shipping. This is a high sodium and salt bread, so if you are on a salt restricted diet, not for you.My own review, rating related:I grew up on high and whole grains, so used to UN-American rough textured foods like this. While I am not on any salt restricted diet, I find the salt too high for my taste. One of the reasons we use less.At times, crumbling during shipping, and some mold, can be a problem. Also, the price has increased since my last order, now more expensive than other sellers including my local health food grocer, has made me cut the amount on my next scheduled Subscribe and Save order by more than half (60%)...I may just cancel it and get it locally.Hope you find this useful!
