Easy to use
Got it for my parents in another country. All they need it wifi and their whattsapp so simple! Love it when I call them they aren't always sitting and talking. So the camera moving to their faces is such a cool feature and convenient. You can also play music and watch things on it. Love how you can also read a book to them. OH you can also have many family members talk together too! I got all my parents and their children to talk together regardless of where they are at!

Love it!
I love the video calling. My daughter and other family members have a 2 year old Portal and she said my new one had a much sharper video. It is in a more slimline photo frame that can be set on the table vertically or horizontally that. The old one. There are lots of new features. Your facebook photos can be downloaded as can photos from your phone. You can make those private. I can touch the screen to move through my favourite photos. It comes loaded with some apps like Spotify, contacts, photos, a browser, Pandora, Storytime, And of course 2 facebook links. I added CBS news. The speaker in the back is great for videos and music. Its comparable to my ihome! The screen is the same size as my larger kindle fire and just as clear. It has easily accessible on screen instruction guide. I am recommending it to family and friends.

Almost perfect but a few misses. Still great device to call grandma
Pros: simple to set up and audio/video quality is amazing. Camera motion is really smooth and reliable and overall a great device that is optimized for video chat. Nails the call grandparents scenario for my kids.Cons: has to be plugged in. There's no battery. This is annoying. It's 2020 put a battery in it. You'd think this is obvious but it makes the device super lame that it has to be plugged in.UX can be clunky at times. We all naturally have a lot of Facebook friends but I don't want my son to accidentally dial a friend I haven't talked to in 10 years. The angle of the stand is a little off. When on a table it seems to point the camera towards ceiling more than we would prefer. So you end up being in the bottom half of the frame not the whole thing.

EDIT: Works ok but there is a lot of Echo on the other end
After contacting Facebook support I was able to get help and now it works great! If you are having any issues with your Portal just go to the Facebook website. Don't be like me and try to talk to someone from Amazon tech support :)I want to like the portal 2 but can't. The design is good, it works good, but any call I make gets a crazy amount of echo on the other end. And since I bought this to video call with my family it is useless to me.Tried talking to an Amazon technician but you can't get far with someone who doesn't speak or understand English. So I am returning it. Maybe the next one will be better.

Love it
This portal is great for video calls, I use it everyday, it picks up on sound very easily though so if it's any extra noise in the background, your call may be affected because the mic on it is so sensitive but I love it

A very misunderstood product
Facebook’s Portal is weird, like really weird but in its own way it makes perfect sense and is perfect for communicating with Boomers or maybe those who aren’t into shopping around the App Store. :-)The call quality is fantastic. The machines ability to pan, scan and zoom makes it remarkable for its primary purpose. The addition of some Alexa features is welcomed but average at best.Privacy functionality is on point with physical buttons to turn off camera and microphone.Display is fantastic.Very user friendly and a great way to catch up with friends and family, especially if you’re with a group of people.
