Swagman CORONADO Roof Mount Kayak Rack

Liking these saddles! The pads have a large surface area so I can pull the straps tighter without risking denting the kayak. I used nylock lock nuts under the knobs for a little more security. They hold the kayak high enough to clear the keel of certain kayaks so it doesn’t hit the roof rack cross bar. The rubber pads are a bit too grippy so it’s hard to slide the kayak into position, but it’s probably a good thing because it doesn’t allow the kayak to shift during transport. Only negative is that they have a thick silicone grease leaking out from the hinge area(probably there to stop the saddle from fluttering in the wind) that collects debris, and is hard to remove without using solvents.

Product came in original packaging but appeared to be taped back up. Box holding the parts seemed to be ripped where the screws would be held in place by the cardboard.Dust/particles on the parts appearing to maybe be mounted/tried a few times. One scratch on on of them as well. Looks like they put them on their carpet before putting them back in the box again to return.Overall they are heavily built and bigger than you would think. The flexibility of having one flat and one hinged is nice for me trying to fit a fishing kayak and regular kayak (on j-hook) works great.Hinges do have some residue coming from them but nothing too bad.I would've given a better score but it's very apparent I was shipped used ones that were returned. It would be nice to get the 'used' pricing instead of the 'new' pricing.Attaching photos to show what I mean.

First time recreational kayaker, 2002 Ford Escape this rack is minimalist, sturdy, looks great in use and unoccupied as well. I can't believe how the kayak doesn't budge at any speed or road condition.

I bought these a year ago (2/2015) and they were priced at $50. Not sure why they are now $90. For the $50 they were the cheapest in the industry and I did not expect great quality. They are a bit thin and they lasted about 1 year. We ran them through a car wash and they broke. Not bad for the $50, but no way I'd buy them for $90.

One of the best kayak saddles I have found. I have used these for over 4 years, which has consisted of over one hundred trips, and never had a problem. A great saddle for wide.kayaks because the saddles articulate and adjust to different angles .Customer service is top notch as well. I would highly recommend this product...

One of the Saddles leaked a glue like substance from the pivot screw. I was able to get it off with a cleaner, but asked for a replacement saddle. Some of the replacement saddles also leaked glue from the same location. I am concerned that this is a defect in the product and wonder if I should return it.

Made transporting my kayak on the top of my car so much easier. The kayak no longer sways back and forth in the wind it is now stationary like a statue!!!
