Snug and Sleek
This case is a frame protector and it does just that. It was not designed to protect the front or the back; just the four edges. It fits the Moto Z2 Play perfectly. It is made of metal, so it feels solid, yet light. The frame is hinged at the bottom left and buckled at the bottom right. Unbuckle the bottom part. Skipping manicure for a few days might make it easy to unbuckle it. Then slide the phone from the bottom. While sliding the phone in, it might be better to have the right side of the frame pointing downwards. In other words, hold the frame facing you with the unbuckled and hinged bottom portion of the frame to the left (i.e. hinge to the top left and buckle to the bottom left), and the right side of the frame facing down (i.e. part of the frame with the buttons facing downwards), hold the phone facing sideways with the top of the phone facing right and the front of the phone facing you (i.e. the fingerprint sensor should be to the left facing you), hold up the unbuckled and hinged bottom portion of the frame that is now to the left, and slowly slide the phone into the frame. This is necessary to make sure gravity pulls the three buttons on the frame down. Once the phone is snug inside the frame, close the bottom of the frame and fasten the buckle. This part can be challenging. A slight tap with a mallet might help fasten the buckle. I used the bottom of a coffee mug to tap and fasten the buckle into place. This is not to be construed as a negative remark. This is necessary to ensure that the frame remains snugly and firmly wrapped around the edges of the phone. There is not much protrusion either on the top or the bottom of the frame. This might not provide significant protection if the phone falls face down or bottom down. In any event, making the case thicker would defeat the purpose of purchasing a slim phone like Moto Z2 Play. The first picture is of the front of the phone with the case installed. The second picture is of the rear of the phone with the case installed. The third picture is of the rear of the phone with the case installed and a Moto MOD (TurboPower) attached.

A bumper fell off in my pocket.
Good fit. Buttons work well. But one of the pads came off when the smartphone was in my pocket. It appears that the bumpers are only lightly pressed in from the inside. Very small, thin lip keeps the bumper from falling out. This seems like a defect. I'd appreciate a replacement.

Better Than Expected
I am very pleased with this product. It appears well made. It is just thick enough to provide a modicum of protection around the rear camera lens assembly of the Moto Z2 Force phone, yet it is slim enough that it does not add any objectionable bulk (assuming you've bumpered your phone). The wood grain simulation is surprisingly attractive, adding a touch of elegance.Since I'll be swapping this back plate from time to time with a Moto Mod, the question is durability: Will this thing stand up to repeated re-installations? That will be the topic for a follow-up should issues arise.I might criticize the pricing -- perhaps a tad high for what it is -- but since the product does its job so well, I can hardly complain. So, five stars -- well done.UPDATE - 1 March 2019: A couple of quick notes.First, because of some seller's unfortunate practice of combining different items into one listing, most of the reviews here are for the bumper product and not the back plate. So, don't let overall ratings for one product unduly affect your buying decision about another.Second, a usage note: The magnets in the back plate make it stick to steel surfaces. Thus, if you place your phone down on, say, a washing machine (as I did), don't be surprised to find the phone no longer has the back plate attached when you pick it up. You'll find it on the washing machine. This is not really a product fault. The steel surface simply wins out in the magnetic tug-of-war. The manufacturer would have to make this product thicker to solve this problem -- something I suggest they don't do. In fact, it's almost more of a feature -- an easy way to remove the plate if you happen to be near, say, your refrigerator. Just pay attention when you're away from home. The person who finds it will most likely never figure out what the heck it is.

Better than nothing...
If you are like me and buy this bumper case because the plane phone is so slippery and you're afraid of dropping it, then go with the other product that is on amazon which is all one piece and that you slip over the phone. In order to slip over they have to be slightly more stretchy and soft to peel on around the phone, and because of that they are actually more grippy, this one is smooth aluminum on sides and it almost is no grippier at all, sorta defeats the purpose. but it is still a TINY bit better more grippy that without it, enough to not care top go through the trouble of returning. I would give it a three star, but it seems nicely made, and the hinge, lock, and buttons are all very nice and smooth. On the more girppy one, it is also notably more difficult to press the side three toggle buttons (power, up and dn volume). we shall see how long it last!

Probably the best you'll get
It's a nice case and the buttons are responsive but sensitive. Which can be a good thing but sometimes a nuisance. There are 2 flaws to the case1. Charging port cut out.The cutout for the charger is not for universal usb c cords. Since it has a round cut out for the charging port not all charger heads will fit. Quite annoying2. Locking mechanism. Because of the cut out, I have taken off the case which caused the locking mechanism to wear out. So even locked I can still pry it open. Not a good thing if I were to drop it.Either than that. All mods can be used with the case. So overall, it's better than nothing.

Nice metal feel, snug fit.
Hard to find something bad to say about this one. It does what it says on the tin. The metal is surprisingly weighty, which gives a nice contour to the phone. The one down-side is that it feels expensive for what it is. But I suppose you get what you paid for.

Solo buen bumper

Does what it's supposed to, but also hinder the antena
I don't know if it's the material the case is made of or something else, but since I started using this case I started to get poor reception. My WiFi regularly disconnect and reconnect and the general phone signal was always low.Since I live in a region with "ok" coverage I frequently loss signal all together.I even sent the phone to repair to make sure it wasn't the device. It was fun to be able to swap mods in a moments notice, but in the end it wasn't worth it for me.
