I have loved this book since I used it in the preschool I worked at many years ago. Each page keeps the children guessing what the character sees next! Fun, colorful, engaging, and simple book.Now I bought it just because it is adorable and makes me happy. One of my favorite children's book. It is a small size hard cover book, perfect for young ones hands.

The poetic way in which this story is written, with a repeating format: question and response, really allows little minds to connect. This brought about FIRST laughs in both of my children, because of the intonation in my voice while reading, along with the animal sounds that we add to the beautiful illustrations. It's a bright and cheerful family favorite.

This is a good repetitive book. Some pages have clues as to the animals that will show up next. This board book is sturdy with colorful pages.

My children (1&2) love brown bear brown bear, so I bought this one in hope that they would love it too because it is similar. The liked it but not as much as the brown bear book.

I discovered "I Went Walking" when I taught first grade. It was a part of their literature series early in the year. I have no children of my own and I own both the board book and the paperback edition of this book because I love the illustrations and the rhythmical quality of the text. As someone who has professionally worked with children ages 2-12, I find that this kind of text is invaluable to early readers (ages 2-7). Children can easily pick up on the patterns in the sentences and begin developing many pre-reading skills (like being able to identify the left to right movement of written sentences). To find books that your young child will want to read over and over again is a jewel in their literacy development. To find books like this that you will want to read over and over again with your child is a treasure box of time shared!

Found this book in a friend's classroom and decided to order a copy for myself. Such a cute story - very much in the vein of Brown Bear, Brown Bear but with different animals! Great for repetition and rhyming.
