My wife received one of these 20 years ago as a gift from a friend and I accidentally broke the lid. I was so glad to find another one.

The only problem is the knob on top is too small which makes it easy to drop. I just wrapped a small rubber band around knob for a better grip. Perfect!

The size is a bit big, but it is great. I had a small one a while back but gave it to my daughter. When I wanted another small size was not to be found. Love it anyway

Love this butter boat! Have had it 5 years & it’s as good as new. Works perfectly. Butter is easy to spread & it looks nice sitting on the counter. Would never go back to standard type.

Lid doesn’t fit well

The design of these types of butter dishes is from a time when there was no refrigeration, it was and is used frequently in some European countries. I was thrilled to have finally found one! It does work well in that during hot weather, this butter dish does keep my butter from melting completely while it is sitting out on the counter.However, 'deluxe' is not an appropriate term because the fit between the pieces is somewhat loose (especially the lid doesn't fit very well), and the mark on the inside of the water dish is placed too high. If you fill in water to that line and then put the butter container in it, the water will overflow. For a 25 dollar price tag, I would have expected to receive a somewhat better product. When I am ready to replace it, I will try a different one.

I like this butter dish, except for where the lid and the dish come together it is not "glazed" and is chalky and flaking off. I am sending this one back and trying another one that is glass.UPDATE 8-1-13: My wife talked me into keeping the butter dish and after washing it and oiling the edge; it works pretty good. It keeps the butter soft enough to spread on toast and it helps the butter stay fresher longer. I'm not sure if it's possible to add a rubber edge to the lid to avoid the "chalkiness" the porcelain has when it rubs together on the dish. Oiling it has gotten rid of the problem with ours. It's 2020 & like everything; it was accidentally broken. Getting a replacement because it's the best butter dish we've ever used.

If you like to have your butter spreadable without worrying about it spoiling, this is the butter dish for you. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that the lid does not fit it as well as I would like. I plan to order a couple more for gifts. Other raters have also mentioned the lid. Perhaps the manufacturer will take note and improve this feature. Still, a good buy in my book. I have searched high and low, bought many plastic dishes, but this is so much better dishwasher safe, and looks nice on my counter.
