The Perfect Gift is a Really Nice Entertainment Center
This device has no built in memory so bring your own SD Micro (TF) card or USB flash drive. The radio recognizes it as External Memory for a USB flash drive and Internal Memory for the MicroSD TF card. Two drives can be found using the folder browser function. Or you can just browse for audio or video files from the main menu screen. Once you get a handle on travelling through the drives it is quite easy and intuitive to play the loaded audio or video files. This is a much more natural way to view videos than on a cell phone. It is a stable and enjoyable and still a very portable way to view videos and play audio. It both sounds and looks better a cell phone. It sits on a table or desk like a small, solid and stable mini TV set. Its widescreen format screen is large enough and is well suited for this small form factor radio video entertainment center. This is a very nice radio video unit. It does both functions so well. It does sound good even though the speaker fires out the back. It sounds like it has a very good high quality speaker that does the job very well for videos and music both.It uses 3 of the larger high voltage 3.7v 18650 batteries which allow for hours of video and very long play for mp3 music or radio (FM, AM or SW). FM radio reception is very good, AM is OK for local stations and SW is very even surprisingly good. Good reception is probably due to the whip antenna which is sturdy and of good length. For radio, MW and FM and particularly for Shortwave the numeric buttons on top make tuning thru the bands very easy. There are three buttons on front dedicated to each band are labelled AM, FM and SW. Long pressing those band buttons will set it to search and store stations. Like you might expect, the Fast Forward and Rewind buttons will step you through the stored stations in those bands. There is a tuning knob on top beside the volume dial that makes tuning thru radio bands as simple and as easy as any normal radio. This radio is very flexible, easy to tune and makes it easy to find the station you want. This is a quality good sounding radio. But it is probably the big screen high quality video that will impress most of your friends. It does play most videos without conversion, beautifully in a bright wide screen format. But as a radio man, sound is most important for me and here too I am happy as movies and videos sound good. If you choose, a short press of the "Video" button will blank the screen and continue running the video as audio only, a very nice feature. And this is probably the only "hidden" feature I found in the manual that I did not figure out myself. It is fun right out of the box. The first day I had it, I used it without reading the manual (a test I perform before gifting to a parent or Luddite family member). This radio video player entertainment unit passed that test easy, and thus is good potential gift for anybody. It is that easy for young or old, or those who appreciate audio, video or radio separate or put together. It is easy, fun and versatile without being complex or hard to use. This is fun. This would make a gift that would impress nearly anybody who appreciates quality and things that work well too. Even if you do not personally have any music, radio or video lovers on your gift list, this will make a great gift for anybody to get. And at this price it will be a welcome gift to give too.

Good, but Video Format Matters
The radio works fine, and the speaker is decently loud for its size. The screen is clear, but getting videos to play can be tricky since it only supports certain formats, even though it says it works for most. It's nice for casual listening and a nostalgic mix of features, but be prepared to do some video converting

Excellent, Lots of Features, Good Quality
This is a small radio, provided with 3 rechargeable 18650 lithium batteries, which also has the capability of playing videos, displaying images, and ebooks. There are some limitations on the latter features that are notable but, overall, I'm very happy with this. This device can play MP3s and it will connect to a bluetooth device, so you can play them off of your phone, as well. It plays a range of video file types and supports resolutions up to 1080p. This device has an input for USB drives and for TF cards, so its very versatile in that regard. It can display e-books, but not in EPUB or AZW formats. The radio reception on this is very good. It receives FM and AM, as well as SW bands spanning from 3 to 21.95MHz. The SW reception was surprisingly good. I was able to pick up the WWV time station on 5 and 10 MHz inside my house, which I haven't been able to do with other SW radios. SW reception, of course, depends upon where you're located, the time of day, and other variables, but between the digital tuning and good reception I've been able to pick out a few stations with good clarity in areas with less-than-optimal reception. There was a little bleed over of FM stations into the SW dial, but I attribute this to those FM stations being very powerful commercial stations whose towers aren't located too far from my house.I'm really pleased with the quality of this radio. The speaker is surprisingly loud, and there's a headphone jack, which makes it a lot easier to hunt for SW broadcasts. The image and video features are great. Along with the rechargeable battery, this is a great device to have around in a power outage. The one missing element is a weather band button, and if that was there, this would be a perfect emergency radio. I'm still giving it 5 stars because of the quality of the build and how well it does what it's made to do. This is a good deal. With a simple SW extension antenna, this is likely good enough for most SW DXing.

An Eye/Ear Reset?
This thing is very impressive. It is solid as a brick. The first time I held the player, it reminded me of the one time I got to hold a very expensive Swiss camera that might have been the greatest film camera of all time. It felt like a brick with a strap. Just because the player feels like a high end player ,does not mean it will sound good. I got stuck listening to FM stations tonight. Had no idea of how many there were that didn’t appear on the dial before. After listening to local radio, the slot for the SD Card was looking better and better. This player is tons of fun and is well designed, except for one glaring oversight. The unit is very narrow and when sat down on its feet, it really wants to fall down.

Includes rechargeable 18650 batteries, works well
I found it was easy to program the AM and FM frequencies, along with the short wave changes, although it only detected two of those. The video function seems to work well with aUSB drive, ad the image quality is actually pretty great. The sound is very good for something this size with a very little speaker. I was very happy to find this device uses rechargeable 18650 type batteries, which last a long time and are very inexpensive if you want to have more than the three is includes (It uses all three). This is a great little media player for when the power goes out, or to carry along for screen or audio time. It has a bluetooth feature, but I have not tried to pair it with anything yet. If you're looking for something small and portable that can be used when the power is out, or on the go, this is a great product to consider.
