Shockingly this gets 10/10 and I have 100+ testers. (Yes actually 100)
Once again XTAR knocked it out off the park with this new VX4! My VP4 Dragon Plus was my go to but now doing 1.5 Lithium AA, AAA, C and D this one is fantastic. It can, at the same time have:a 21700, protected 18650, 1.5v Li-ion AA and NIMH. Charge or “grade” (which is C-D-C cycle) by pressing MODE promptly upon plugging it in. Another impressive function is the automatic setting of Amperage, but you can manually set ALL channels to do 250mA, 500mA, 1A or 2A. This is achieved by pressing the mWh/mAh button upon start up. Note ALL 4 channels will operate at that amperage regardless of chemistry or voltage.(Note if you are using a weak nimh or Li-ion AA or AAA it might limit you below 500mA or 1A depending on the cells iR. I have yet to be annoyed by this, I’ve agreed with it every time so far.It can do LiFePo4 BUT ALL CHANNELS will be LiFePo4 and forced despite sensors. FYI. This is achieved by holding the C/V button upon start up. This is the only setting I’ve seen that isn’t foolproof and could be slightly dangerous if you didn’t know what you were doing and did exactly the wrong thing. lol.Summary. The value for your money is undeniable , this has a fast charging speed at 2A on all channels (if supplied USBC PD with enough wattage and voltage) all while residing in a sleek, small and portable unit that needs nothing but a USB cord.I bought 10. Lol.Reminder. You will be unplugging it between tests to reset modes and amperage, take photos when completed because there's no memory and when bumped hard or a cell is removed, you won't see that test result again. There is no USB Out, no 9V, while there is interal resistance measurement it is not displayed(not that those should ever be trusted on a charger) and while you can change modes with out unplugging the test amperage will be automatically decided and not displayed unless unplugged and set.I wouldn't expect these features on any machine under $100 but just wanted to let you know.10/10 rating from me and that's rare. Also the BC4 gets a 9/10 but oddly not the one in the kit with batteries(that BC4 5/10 and xtar cells 10/10 and I've tested hundreds). The version with USB C and USB A in the photo: 9/10. - at LeviMThomas fb insta

Versatile charger.
Update: Received a replacement charger. The new one seems to be working fine and I haven't observed any issues. Updated the rating to 5 stars. The charger Is on the larger side, measuring 5" wide by 6 3/4" long which is necessary to be compatible with larger batteries. I was able to fit anything from AAA to a massive 32650 with no issues. The grading feature works well and I was able to identify several degraded batteries. The manual that it came with is a not great. All information is crammed onto few pages which makes it difficult to read.Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.Original Review: The charger keeps resetting during grading cycle. Happened several times. The first time it happened when I lightly touched the battery to see if it was getting hot. I was grading Ni-MH batteries when it happened, but when it reset, the battery type changed to Li-ion. The second time it happened without me touching it. I read one other review that had this issue. I wonder if I got the charger that someone else returned. Ordered a replacement. Will update once I receive it.

Well made with extras
I had a Nitecore i4 for some years and it died. Took it apart and two 220 uf capacitors were blown up inside. This charger looks well built and has a battery capacity feature. Has a nice carry bag and will fit many varieties of batteries. Nice that this included the USB charger.Only complaint would be it doesn’t have a 12vdc adaptor for traveling in car / camp outs/ etc. like the Nitecore does. May replace caps on the old Nitecore for a travel unit.

Charged NiMh batteries without a problem.
Used to charge NiMh batteries. Worked like it was supposed to. LED display lets you know when it's completely charged. Totally satisfied.

Good product.
It could have a faster charge rate. It will lower the charge rate to 2000ma and 1000ma depending on how many batteries are charging at the same time. Tested with AA l-ion 1.5v and various unprotected larger 3.7v l-ion. The test feature to discharge and rate capacity seems accurate.

Charger Resets Modes During Grading
I found the XTAR VX4 by searching for a charger that could be powered by a USB-C PD power adapter (Note: It requires a power adapter that supports 12V1.67A to take advantage of PD. Several popular USB-C PD power adapters do not support 12V). Alternatively, it can fall back to QC3.0 (9V2A) or 5V2A). I ultimately purchased this charger to grade batteries, as the marketing states it is > 95% accurate compared to lab grade testing equipment. However, while attempting to grade batteries, the charger keeps resetting. I put the charger into "Grad." mode, insert the batteries, the type is detected automatically and the batteries begin to charge, then, after charging completes, they begin to discharge, showing a flashing mAh rating as they are graded. However, when I come to check if grading is complete (it can take all day to grade higher capacity batteries), the charger is in "CHG" mode showing all batteries fully charged, with no final grading information. This has happened multiple times with Ni-MH batteries and most often with older eneloop AAAs. This has happened using both the included power adapter and cable, as well as using an alternate USB-C PD power adapter and cable. I am going to exchange the unit I received and will update this review if the replacement works as expected.EDIT: The replacement unit has not had the problem described above. I’ve completed grading multiple sets of AAAs, including two sets where I experienced the above issue with the original charger. Increasing my rating from 3 to 4 stars.
