This set of hexagonal star shaped heads is handy for DIY on household appliances.To use them you need a screwdriver that will hold a standard hexagonal head, as found in many DIY socket / drill sets (or can be bought by themselves).Many manufacturers of household appliances use star shaped hexagonal screws in their products.The reasons for this are1) They may not want an ordinary DIY person to tamper with their product.2) The star shape (known as TX) is better for applying torque than a similar sized ordinary screw or a bolt for an allen key, so this means that the screws can be smaller.So if you start taking a household appliance apart, then use your common sense as to which of these two reasons may apply (and turn off any power to the appliance first).Having a set of these has enabled me to take apart a tumble dryer door and repair it with a spare part sourced from the internet.This has saved me an engineer call out fee, so this little TX pack has saved me much more than it cost, just for one repair.The sizes are clearly labelled both on the yellow clip and the TX heads themselves.I have used my set fairly rarely, and I forget where I bought my set from, so I can't comment on durability, or speed of delivery.
