DOZYANT CYLINDER EASY TO REPLACE
I recommend this product. When replacing gas cylinder turn chair on side or upside down and remove clip from bottom of cylinder, set base aside. Hold on to the piston with chair upside down or sideways and tap on the base beside the piston where mounted to seat this shock will release the piston. You may have to hit on each side around the piston. I first tried a pipe wrench to turn the piston to release it which did not work. Then I held my chair up with the piston and only took a few taps on one side to release the piston. Turn the chair base upside down and hammer the outer part of the cylinder from the base. To install new cylinder just insert bottom in wheels and set seat in place on top it is self-tightened.

Fit my unknown brand chair perfectly
But I think I tore my right chest muscle trying to twist the cylinder off. Ended up holding the cylinder and tapping lightly all around the base until it fell off.

So far, So good with Leap V1-highback (post 2000) model, as long as you adjust the set screw.
If looking for a generic (cheaper than OEM) replacement cylinder for a Leal V1 (post the Feb/2000 change to top release model cylinder) you're going to see a lot of complaints about these generics being wrong or too tall for it. While they're not wrong, i didn't even have to go the route others did to grind/sand down the top button to make it work. I was able to just adjust 'up' the set screw on the release lever enough that it's not in contact with the button. That said, it did fall a little on the 2nd or 3rd day, I'd guess using it had let the chair get settled onto the piston and decreased the distance, but a half turn on the set screw seems to have resolved it enough to stay put (for at least another couple of days). Time will tell, but this seems to be an ok option for a Leap V1 (mine is a 462 model, V1 highback, manufactured Sept 2000).

Works perfectly in my Quantum 9000 chair.
Worked perfectly in my Quantum 9000 office chair. I unclipped the old canister from my old chair, and removed it from the seat, and then just used the canister (not the exterior black housing that comes with this) in my chair. It fits perfectly, and works without problems. Since I'm using the housing from my chair, rather than the black housing this comes with, everything looks identical to how it did before.

Still working after 1 hour.
I have had this 1 hour and it seems great. I am thinking when getting a new office hair, unless it is high end, replacing the shock initially with something of better quality might be a good idea. Getting the shock out is not that easy. I had put it against the neighbors fence to hammer it and the fence fell down. Then it hit the windows and broke them. I tried blaming it on the yard crew, but they were not there.
