Q: What height is this, excluding top handle? Why do so many sellers not bother to say? Need 16" to go in feeder cage.

Height without hanger is 36cm or 14 inches.

Q: Why does it show a tray around the bottom or the feeder in some pics?? if this doesn't come with the tray please delete the pics!

I had to buy the tray as the feeder does not come with one.

Q: Are the top and bottom metal or plastic please? We cannot use metal as live near the sea.

Hi there, metal. I live about a mile from the River Forth, which empties into the North Sea and I have had 2 of these that have been outside for nearly 2 years and I have no rust. Jacobi Jayne do have ones with plastic top and bottom though, my one is 24 inches in height.

Q: How does the top ring attach to the top?

It is attached by a swivel, perfectly secure, I've had the odd squirrel bouncing on it quite safely. So perfectly safe and secure for birds. I'm very happy with mine.
