"The Poppies" has a black and white timber frame with local brick and stone, forming a patchwork of materials. The well maintained straw thatch hugs the upper windows in an "eyebrow" shape, concealing low-beamed, warm and cosy bedrooms. In the front garden are huge pink oriental poppies originating from China in the 19th century. The turn-of-the- century village school in Pebworth still summons today's children with the original school bell which welcomed their parents and grandparents many years ago. This model has been sculpted showing a lovely summer garden, but imagine the scene of Pebworth's front street on a snowy morning when the hill outside the village's only shop becomes a paradise for children sledging.
