Excellent compliment to the invisible man
Ralph Ellison was and still is a great author and read. What a wild ride this story is the way that the author allows the reading to view events from different perspectives is amazing. Glad I read it one of my favorites

Not as expected...
A fairly tough read, in my opinion. It would be worthwhile to read again in an attempt to connect the ending with the beginning. Overall, an interesting story.

Sadly unfinished
Three stars for what was actually presented in this unfinished novel. The writing is excellent, and Juneteenth had the potential to be as good or better than Invisible Man had Ellison completed it before his death. But the missing plot points rob the narrative of crucial character development and hinder the fulfillment of the lofty themes Ellison had in mind. It's a shame we'll never be able to read this work in the form he intended.

Does America really ever change.
The book very interesting. Ralph Ellison was a very descriptive writer. Captures the essence of life for people of that time period. Not unlike some of the things that are happening currently.

important to learn about other culture's and history
This book is an amazing way to learn more about black culture and history through story. It is important to hear the viewpoint from a different angle and realize what has really happened; yes, years and years ago but at times I wonder if we have made any progress or are we falling back??? I still hope that one day Dr. King's dream comes to fruition.

EXCELLENT ELLISON
In my opinion this is the best of Ellison's work even though it is unfinished. I bought the book so I could read it again as when I moved from a much larger residence ,I gave up many books and now regret it.
