Ring you door without a battery :)
This is THE doorbell! No batteries, just a microamp of transmission caused by a plunger going through some inductors and capacitors to the receiver that can be within 500 feet of this neat little marvel. There is no need to worry that your battery will run down and you will miss hearing the doorbell until you figure out that your friends actually are trying to ring you but you did not change a battery. With this neat gadget, your Ego will stay intact and every caller at your door will send you the DingDong. After we install two more doors on our house, this nice little ringer is going on them. I have tested this unit and am amazed that someone finally came up with the real battery-LESS approach for the transmitter at the door. I think it is pure genius. It reminds me of when the space program was going full speed ahead and in competition with the Russians. We had one devil of a time trying to perfect a pen for the astronauts to use in weightless space - the liquid in the pen just would not perform like it does in a gravitational world. We (the USA) spent millions trying to perfect the writing apparatus for space. But wait - the Russians never used a pen. They used a simple Карандаш (PENCIL).That is what this nice looking little unit reminded me about when I saw how elegantly it was designed - a thrust of wires through other wires and - Ding Dong!

Great Little Door Bell
I agonized over what door bell to order for our new front door. Did not want a cheap looking ringer on the outside. It had to be waterproof due to rain and snow hitting front door. One of the things that sold this is that the button does not need batteries. That is cool because I hate having to open waterproof devices to replace batteries like I do with outdoor weather sensors. Things I like are that it is loud and has lots of chimes preprogramed. If there is a CON it would be the person pressing the button has to put more effort into the pressing. The button does generate its own power and therefor it is a little harder to press. I did notice that once I opened the box and tried it myself. The mail man just dropped off a package and did not even press the button.....just knocked on the door...so that was disappointing. He could have been the 1st. Guess I will just have to wait.

Nice Product That Works Perfecty
This doorbell/chime set is of decent quality and works as advertised. Even though it's not a big deal, I especially like the fact that the doorbell unit does not require batteries. To mount the doorbell using the included wood screws, one must remove the back of the plastic doorbell housing and drill two small holes in the cover. This is no problem. But, be careful when popping the back cover off (even with a small screwdriver and little pressure) because the plastic tabs that hold the cover on the back of the unit are weak and will break off easily. I am not sure that the doorbell will be water resistant now with duct tape holding the bottom of the back cover on. Oops.

Easy to install and economical but contrasting button would make it better
Can't go wrong with the cost and simplicity. I was tired of replacing batteries in my old one. I think as someone else mentioned, I had to fool around with getting the screw through the top whole more than I would have preferred because some glue was obstructing it but really a minor obstacle. My biggest gripe is that despite the fact that it is mounted prominently, a lot of people do not ring it. I have the black one mounted on a white background so I am not sure exactly why people do not push it but I suspect that they think it is just a camera. Perhaps a contrasting color for the button and/or having the button protrude out would be an improvement. Maybe even a glow in the dark button - I don't know, maybe something for the manufacturer to test out.

Its perfect
The product is easy to instal, and the box that goes inside the house is loud and has an adjustable volume. The doorbell is nice and simple.

good buy
the best about this is that I don't need to worry about battery change, a lot of songs to choose, good surface touch, good looking, good price.

Inexpensive Replacement (that died after 14 months) for a Malfunctioning DoorBell
I needed something in a hurry, and I purchased this item for about $16. It does the job, and was easily installed. Two things about I would change. First, I would have liked it in white. Plugged in to a wall outlet, it stands out. Second, setting the ring tone is tedious (if you buy one, you'll understand). Other than that, it works well. It's got adequate volume, as well as ring tones of various lengths, so you can set something that you can probably hear anywhere in your home. Beyond that, what more can you expect for about $16?December, 2019: Doorbell died. Fourteen months for $16.
