Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet

This is the second of three books I purchased on amigurumi. To be honest, I bought it because the pictures on the front were so adorable that they put me on a hunt for the author on the internet. I found her blog, which is terrific, and then I bought her book. I'm glad I did, because this book is definitely for the beginning crocheter. There are no assumptions that the reader has any more than a rudimentary knowledge of crochet and the directions are very clear.The patterns are very simple and that's the strength of this book, in my opinion. After making several toys from this book, I was able to make my own "freestyle" patterns. I adapted her hedgehog pattern, along with the donkey pattern from the Kyuuto book (another excellent resource) and made an amigurumi alpaca. Go figure.Although all of the patterns have the same basic look, this book, more than the others, has gotten me to experiment and create my own little beasts without written directions. That's a huge step for a beginner at crochet and quite an accomplishment for an author. I highly recommend this book as the first book you purchase on amigurumi. It will give you a good start, use up your yarn stash, and move you towards creating your own designs.As mentioned already, the author has a lovely blog where she shares a few free patterns with her readers and shows off her latest creations. I have recently learned how to crochet and have been wanting to make amigurumi for years but never attempted because I assumed it would be too hard. This is my first and only amigurumi book and I find it to be fun and pretty easy. The hardest thing is learning to read the pattern. I don't mean the patterns in this book alone but general crochet patterns. I have made the bear, the penguin, and I have the head and ears done so far for the elephant. This book is filled with adorable creatures I can't wait to make them all. There's also a chapter in the beginning of the book that teaches you all of the stitches. As a very new crocheter it's helpful for me to have a reference when I forget certain stitches. If you've been wanting to learn this get this book, a few supplies, and some patience and you'll be making critters. All my friends are giving requests now of things for me to make.

Easy but...I liked the patterns in here they are seriously cute and after a few attempts I got them. BUT...I had a few problems and I think they might be the fact that I am a true beginner and not experienced. like it took me a awhile to get that SC 1 , 2 sc in next sc, meant to SC in next SC then do 2 SC in the next SC after that first one. I don't know why. I felt like an idiot. but in general. the patterns are all SC and a few decreases and were easy. Which meant that that they were repetitive. I don't know why we needed baby monkey and his daddy. and elephant and his daddy. I also didn't get that the ami were inside out until I read a review so the two that are shown in the pictures above are inside out. *sigh* I wish she had said that somewhere. I also wish that each pattern has said exactly what felt what embroidery etc was needed. although I guess it was such a minute amount. but I found myself thinking oh yeah I should have bought pink thread to sew my pink felt. duh.but the results are cute and I love them and everyone loves them and wants me to make them for them so a great buy!!!

These are very cute and easy to crochet. Like the other reviewer said many things are done using a single crochet . The author also has a etsy shop and blog so check those out if you want to see more of her style. What I wanted to know before I bought it was what patterns are included:Valentine Bears,Baby lion and his daddy, puppy and his daddy, baby monkey and her daddy, baby penguin and her mommy, baby owl and her mommy, baby hedgehog and her mommy, boy and girl elephants, baby octupus and her mommy, mr and mrs cactus, happy eggs, cafe con leche cup , cupcake , ice-cream cone, tiny ami that are: mouse ,bunny,cat,bear,turtle,and duck, also a little pear and a little apple with a worm.The toys are made with worsted weight yarn size g/6 ,f/5 ,or e/4 hooks.You will also need polyester fiberfill, a tapestry needle, felt and safety eyes or embroidery floss.I just got it and I have already made 3 bunny a duck and a little egg with a chick inside for easter gifts . They are all super cute don't take much yarn to make and work up fast!!!!

This book is great! I am a somewhat new crochet/knitter and was a bit nervous to get this book, but after reading reviews I was confident it was a good buy. I am SO glad I got it! The instructions are easy to follow, and the resulting animal is adorable! When I first recieved this book I was a definite beginner, and even my first animal came out great. My son loves his little lion :) I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys crochet and wants to try something new. The animals make great gifts, and are so different from what you would buy in a store that everyone I've made one for just loves it. I have been knitting the animals with 100% cotton yarn, and I think that is perfect. That way the animals can be washed, and can withstand my son tugging on him without losing their shape.

I bought the first book - loved it - looked up photos of Amigurumi Ana Rimoli - stumbled across the photos of this book on Flikr - nearly passed out from an attack of the adorables and decided I must buy it. I did - it came (a few pages stuck together previous owner must have toddlers) and have already made the baby octopus! Ideas are great - patterns are easy - and it gave me the confidence to think up my OWN creations! Like for the stroller instead of all fish I am going to do a fish, a penguin and an octopus....totally totally totally worth it.

Absolutely a great book. Gives a whole new aspect to the old craft of crotchet, and is allowing me to make some excellent Christmas stocking stuffers for all the children on my list, and maybe even a few adults.The patterns are simple and easy to follow. The work is completed very quickly. Some may find the work a bit fiddly but the result is worth it. Just sorry I have not been able to make them all yet. But I am working on it.

Les modèles de petits personnages au crochet (=amigurumis) sont tout simplement craquants. Les explications sont claires et on peut réaliser une variété de petits personnages.

Really nice book with many easy amigurumi patterns, ideal for a beginner like me. The book is well written and the instructions are very easy to follow.

Debes conocer las indicaciones en inglés, por lo demás es perfecto. Ya tenía el segundo libro y voy a comprar el tercero.

Als ich dieses Buch zufällig auf amazon entdeckt habe und die modelle gesehen habe, war ich sofort begeistert!Nicht nur das die Modelle super süß aussehen, sie sind auch wirklich leicht zu machen! Meine ganzen freunde und Familie waren und sind davon begeistert und ich konnte auch schon viele mit dem häkelfieber anstecken :)Wer sich mit Amigurumi versuchen will für den ist es das beste Buch zum beginnen, aber auch für fortgeschrittene wird es nicht langweilig.Ok, ein wenig englisch ist gefragt aber wenn man mal weiß wofür die abkürzungen stehen ist es kein problem mehr!würde ich jederzeit wieder kaufen!
