No problem hearing the speakers.
Works well. I have no problem hearing the speakers. I like the volume control switch; it is easy to find at night, and have had no problems with the product after many months of use.

Loud hum and background scritchy static noise makes it unusable
Main issue is the loud hum and scritchy static noise is always there and disrupts whatever is playing but also wakes me up when there is nothing playing. The loud noise is independent of how the volume is set so overwhelms anything when using low volume.Other drawbacks:- It will only work if powered. So it isn't that you get some sound if there is no power and it gets louder when power is applied, you get no sound with no power.- Plug is a little too big to fit in the hole of some smartphone cases, so you have to remove the case to plug it in.

great for the money
Sound isn't wonderful but I am not looking to play music on it. Works well for tv sounds and is easy to use

Works far better than non amplified pillow speakers
Works awesome!! She can watch her shows and I can sleep finally lolOnly downside is there’s a lot of wires, but that’s okay we just shove them under her pillow. After hearing the difference between amplified and non amplified type of pillow speaker’s definitely buy the amplified kind. The other type you can barely hear.

Four days in and sound cuts off even when no one is touching it.
Had high hopes for this, and did what I could to avoid the issues with other purchasers. Used electrical tape to make sure the wires couldn't get pulled out, and even taped the speakers to a coat hanger and hung that BEHIND the pillow (rather than under) to avoid risk of it being moved around. Was sitting a few feet away from it - not even touching it, and the sound cut out. Plugged something else into the same audio jack - sound. Plugged this back in to the audio jack - no sound. Checked the light on the power adapter - was on/green). Checked all the connections - were perfect. Also in my instance (probably my pillow) I could certainly hear sound through the pillow, but the sound was muffled/distorted. When I used a thinner pillow it wasn't as pronounced, and when I fixed the speakers right behind the pillow, everything was great. If it wasn't for the sound cutting out...UNPLUGGED the USB cable from the power adapter (aka: Rebooted it) and sound returned. This has happened twice now since I starting using it four days ago. Never heard of a pair of speakers needing to be reset to function. Guess I will send a message to the manufacturer and ask them, but looks like this is going to go back for a return. A pity, as I liked the concept of small powered speakers.Other than it needing to be unplugged/plugged back in to work, was functioning quite well. The one issue I had was that the connectors on the wall plug and speakers were... ...shallow. Think of the connectors on either end of the USB cable as being one inch long, and the inside of the plugs on the wall adapter and the speakers being only 3/4" deep - when you plug in either end of the cable, part of the metal connector sticks out on both ends.----------------------------------Update: Heard back from the Seller (changing to 3 stars) and would appear that sound-cutting-out is not a Common Issue, so perhaps I had Bad Luck, but have already purchased a different product and will be returning this item rather than get caught in a purchase-replacement-loop.Perhaps this might be of use to other readers...Had high hopes for these speakers as they were powered - had some decent volume vs passive speakers - and the two speaker design allowed for each speaker being Close to an Ear. Trick in my case was determining How Far Apart to set the speakers and attaching them to something (like a coat hanger) to keep them from sliding about and risk the wires getting yanked out - also electrical tape!!. Noticed that the audio was distorted with speaker volume set mid-range and sound source higher, so set speaker volume to max and lowered the sound-source and all was well. The volume control knob seemed to be Too Close to the speakers, so fumbling for it in darkness might not be fun. But as I was controlling audio via either my PC mouse or a remote control, would never have needed to touch the speaker volume knob. From what I could tell with my sound meter, could go as high as 77 decibels easily. Other than the sound cutting out, was quite quite pleased with these speakers. And of course other reviewers mentioned ways of securing the speakers so they wouldn't slide around - be it placing them inside of socks and safety-pinning the socks to the bed, if the speakers slide away then you can't hear them, and if they get shoved about it risks the wires getting pulled out.

great volume and no battery!
I'm very hard of hearing. I remove my hearing aids to sleep but need sound to turn off tenitis. This pillow speaker allows me to hear and understand the TV without driving my wife mad. Volume is very good and adjustable. Sound quality is better than expected for a device like this. The bad? I wish the volume knob had a bit more drag. When it bumps against anything, the volume changes.. Also, the USB connector should have been on the very end where the sound jack is. They put it on the plastic piece that holds the volume. Lastly, the long string of speakers, volume, jack and connecting wires is a bit of a pain. That said, I own a drawer full of these things and this one puts them all to shame. The others will be trashed now, I have one that works well - not excellent but well.

A great solution for someone who needs white noise to sleep.
Overall it's a great product. I like/need some kind of white noise in in order to sleep well at night. My wife sleeps best in dead silence. I know that this is a kudundrum that many couples face.I tried a single speaker, battery powered under pillow speaker that, with a connector, plugged directly into my USB-C connector on my phone. I had read several reviews about people who bought other products with built-in Bluetooth but were annoyed when it make loud connection sounds. The unit I purchased had limited amlifacation which barely got the sound through my pillow and I could only hear it if my ear was directly over the speaker location. But the overall concept seemed to work so I went looking for a better model based on what I had learned.I have used Sound Oasis products before and was pleased with them, so I purchased this one. It pluds into power so no batteries to mess with. I also plugged it into an old Bluetooth receiver I had which makes no connection sound. I place the speakers about 1/3 of the way in from each side of my king size pillow and it sees to work great. It has enough amlifacation to give me room to play and find a sweet spot, and you cannot hear it unless your head is on the pillow. I use a Spotify Playlist I created of nature sounds.Overall the product is an answer to prayer. Now we both can get a goodnight sleep and sleep in the same bed.The only challenge I still have with it is the cords. The little control module with the power and sound cord going into it tends to pull it down behind the bed. But it's a small problem that I will solve when I get to it

it has its own volume control
I tried a few non-amplified under pillow earphones but they were to quiet even at max vol on the smart phone. These are ideal and can be adjusted so as not to disturb the partner.
