Incredible
This is an critical piece of music from Vangelis (sonically, compositionally, and typologically) as it sets various tones and trajectories for his future work. There is something culturally primal about this work that is at once recognizable yet interestingly hybridized. Thematic echos towards future works such as "Heaven and Hell", "1492", and "Bladerunner" are present while also providing studied memories of a more ancient set of rhythms and musical representations - a reckoning forward as well as a projection backwards. There are lyrics, something periodic in his work, but they fit within the body of work. With the current emphasis on sustainability today, this work precludes our own realization that our attitudes about the natural environment need some revision, and perhaps that revision involves a delving into our past before it projects again into our future.

Very early Vangelis
This album is a bit like rock and roll with a hint of the later year Vangelis peeking out. The songs are all excellent. I am so glad it's available on CD. A friend of mine had it in vinyl in the 80's and I copied it to cassette. Don't let this album go out of stock without you getting a copy.

Not your typical Vangelis
Early Vangelis. Very different from his other solo work. More in a rock/world music direction. Still very good though.

Joy!
I had this album on vinyl and longed for the day I could find it on CD. I wasn't disappointed. No fireworks from a reproduction standpoint, but nevertheless happy to see this pivotal early work on CD. If you like Vangelis' early stuff, and/or like Aphrodite's Child's work, buy it! You won't be disappointed.
