Wonderful book pictorial look at the Vatican as well as a couple of recipes that will delight

An amazing book. Fine cookbook with gourmet recipes that they somehow reconfigured so they are easy to make, but that's only the beginning. It's a coffee table book with magnificent photographs, a history book with fascinating stories of Pope Francis and the Swiss Guard, an art book with the greatest hits from the fabulous Vatican collection, a tour book of Vatican City, a religious book that reminds us to give thanks for our food, and I love the little anecdotes scattered throughout. They say it's a "book like no other" and I agree. I have never seen anything like it, and I recommend it to anyone who likes food or art or Pope Francis or great books. I keep going back to Amazon to buy more for friends and family. This book makes people happy.

Spectacular book. I bought this book after visiting the Vatican and all I can say is WOW. The recipes are one thing, if you don't cook just get this for the pictures. If you are a fan of culture, religion, or history, then this book doesn't need to be on your wine rack, it needs to be in your library because there is so much in here about the culture of the Vatican and their history. I am super impressed with just the sheer amount of information. The images of the food and the recipes themselves are top notch.Just be ready though, many of them are heavy. While we tend eat a predominantly plant-based diet in our household, there are times that I will just say "Screw it, let's do another recipe from the Vatican!"

The cookbook was filled with amazing traditional recipes. It includes the favorite dishes of some of the popes and has tons of delicious and easy recipes for every season. The cookbook has tons of really cool Vatican photos and has a lot of insight on the daily lives of the Swiss guard, and the history of some Vatican places. The cookbook is totally worth it and I would highly recommend it.

Gorgeous pictures and tantalizing recipes

What a wonderful book! Not only a cookbook that features some basic Italian dishes that are easy to prepare, but a book that also takes you inside the Vatican and the Swiss Guard as well. Excellent photography throughout. I've received a promise from my Italian bred wife that we will be enjoying EVERY dish in it and we have over 30 Italian cookbooks in our 600 volume collection. We've traveled to Italy and have spent several days at the Vatican and still learned things we did not know from this book. Can't recommend it enough. If you can't get to Italy, this is the next best thing. You can taste it, smell it, and enjoy it.

I bought TWO copies of this book for friends who are priests, as Christmas Gifts. Have thus far heard from one that he REALLY likes it!!! I am sure the other priest will tell me the same. I always like a cookbook which has pictures, and in this book they are an inspiration. What is unique is the book's dual approach of being a cookbook and also presenting a history of the cooking at the Vatican. I personally think any serious collector of Cookbooks would most certainly want to have something like this. This would be a great , well appreciated gift for any Catholic religious, serious Catholic, a serious cook or a cookbook collector. This would actually make an eye-catching coffee table book. Larger format pages, but the book is not that thick. One quibble is that the book is slightly large and went right to the sides of the box in which it was shipped. If the box had been dropped in transit, the book would have certainly been damaged. As these were intended to be a gift, that would have been a problem. I was lucky, but would suggest Amazon pack these in a box large enough to allow for protective padding around the book.

Received this as a gift. Liked it so much I gave it to a friend as a B-day gift. She liked it so much, she gave it to her daughters and sisters for Christmas gifts. Great value for the price.

Vem com cada receita de dar água na boca, além de histórias e curiosidades da vida dos Santos padres e das figuras da Guarda Papal Suíça. Eu o classificaria como um dos mais belos livros que já tive o prazer de comprar.

I love cooking meals from this book and at some point I drop the Pope's name who likes it.

This is an attractive and practical Cookbook in a class of its own. The professionalism in both compilation and production ensures this quality book a place on your lounge table perhaps even more than in the kitchen. The recipes are relatively uncomplicated but nevertheless mouthwateringly attractive for a multi-national palate. The photography is superb. There is such skill in making plates of food eye-catching as well as presenting the reader with an interesting and informative insight into the life of the Vatican's historical Swiss Guard in the 21st century.
