Excellent Quality
This patch cable is for converting from TRS to TRRS these letters refer to T= Tip, R=Ring and S=Sleeve which are the metal components of an Audio Jack Plug. The TRS 3.5mm Stereo Plug is commonly used for Audio devices that have separate dedicated input and output sockets. For example, a PC might have two separate TRS sockets one for Stereo audio input and the other for Stereo audio output. TRRS 3.5mm sockets are mainly found on mobile phones or devices where a single audio socket serves both input and output. This Rode quality cable simply makes it possible to patch TRS to a TRRS compatible device or vice-versa. You can also purchase adapters on Amazon to convert a TRS audio jack to a TRRS jack plug. This would allow external microphones, for example, a lavalier to be used with your iPhone. This SC7 Rode Cable iOS Patch lead is excellent quality at a reasonable price.

These wires never last long......
I first started off buying the Official Rode Sc7 wires, which would last a few months at a time. Then one day you start hearing a loud buzzing sound in the background of your video and then you know its time to buy a new one. These wires last no longer than one year if your lucky. Im on my 5th wire now. I bought one from Reytid it lasted 6 months, which is better than Rode, however i had to buy a new one again as the buzzing sound returned and the new one they sent me was faulty, as soon as i plugged it in, i got a buzzing sound on the background of all my recordings. These wires are the most unreliable pieces of crap ive ever had to deal with! And by the way, i have tripod and my mic with wire sits on the tripod hardly getting moved or touched and never taken anywhere outside or on travel. This is how crap these wires really are.

No end of trouble using this with iPhone 6
In theory this cable should connect a RODE VideoMicro to an iPhone 6 but I get so many issues that I can never rely on it. Half the time the audio actually records from the iPhone internal mic and the rest of the time is a mixture of success and total failure involving pop ups from Voice Control on iOS that ruin the recording. All in all a real disappointment. I have no issue using the same RODE microphone with a Fujifilm mirrorless camera (with the standard cable not this one). Shame really as I was really keen to have a decent microphone for the iPhone so that I could have a backup camera solution for the Fuji.

It's a good product
I mean its a cable, it does what it says on the tin, fast shipping (even in these uncertain times) and looks just like the original one. The only thing I noticed was that it had a strong smell when I first opened it, but apart from that it seems a really solid product.

works with Rode Wireless GO
If you ever need to plug a Rode wireless receiver into an iPhone it does the job just fine. Successfully tested with a Rode Film maker and the newer Rode Go mic kits. Note: this doesn't give the option to monitor sound at the same time. I believe there are other adaptors that will do this.
