Sabatier Classic Forged Triple Riveted Chef Knife

Neat knife at a great price.

Junk. This knife is NOT made in France, It's not even a French style knife. It is a cheap Chinese knockoff of a German style knife, while legally stealing the Sabatier name. A real Sabatier is made by one of a dozen or knife makers in the city of Thiers, France. They will be fully forged carbon or stainless steel with a straighter (as in less rounded) blade, full tang and rounded bolster. Sabatiers are lighter and more nimble than German knives. Lifetime Brands used to import real French Sabatier knives made by Coutellerie Sabatier AINÉ & PERRIER. Alas, no longer.Too bad all they sell now is crummy Chinese junk

I purchased this 8 inch chef knife knowing the history of Sabatier cutlery. My Nogent is still a favorite. However this brand of 'Sabatier' is made in China.Its heavy, machine cast metal with sharp burred edges on the bolster, and a wedge so thick it doubles as a wood splitter up at the cabin.

I'm comparing the picture of the knife offered with the Sabatier website picture of the Classic 8" ([...]) and this is not the same knife. Th bolster is much thicker and a different shape. The pommel is also shaped differently.
