This pattern includes sizes 2-6 - other sizes available. MM18201 - 1825 - 1830 Day Dress Pattern in sizes 2-24. This dress is copied from an original worn by a country woman in upstate New York. It was an everyday dress, not a scrub the floor dress, but probably not her Sunday best. The sleeve is en gigot, a few full leg of mutton shaped at the top and tapering to the wrist. It was popular for only a few years during this part of the century, but may have been worn for many years afterwards by women unaware of or disliking the newer fashions. The sleeve is set fairly low on the shoulder. The original fabric was dark brown cotton calico with a small cream print consisting of a pair of diamonds. Colors of the period were fairly rich in tones, especially when compared to the previous decade. Plaids were in vogue, as were small prints, similar to modern calicos. Western Frontier, Romance Era, Jacksonian Era, Belle Epoch.
