Glukos Energy Bar, Apple Cinnamon, 12 Pack

I just did a short backpacking trip of 40 miles, which included 5 miles of elevation gain in 90 degree heat, and I relied on these bars as my trail snack. I think this was a good test. They provided energy, no doubt. That's a plus if that's all you want them for is energy. But if you're thinking of food that provides energy, imo they were passable. I found the taste and mouth feel to be kind of like a warm disgusting Christmas fruitcake we used to sell in high school to fund band trips. I love the concept of getting fructose out of energy bars -- the evidence shows that fructose contributes to visceral fat production in the liver. I just think Glukos needs a better recipe to create a bar that's actually enjoyable.

We have a dual purpose for these bars, my 21 year old daughter is training for 5K and Zombie Runs and she is Type 1. The carbs in these raise her blood sugar faster than her gels but more importantly, it lasts! No few seconds of energy and back to low blood sugar, these carbs stick around while most gels do not for very long. Not crazy about the taste, but this is a tool not a candy bar.

It has a texture of an old original Powerbar...just diluted and softer. I prefer less processed and more nutty and grain bars.

These do get into your body pretty quick. The texture is a bit gritty after getting warm in your jersey

good and give the energy but too much sugar

This is one of my favorite ride snacks. Easy to chew and digest, all Glukos products I have tried are excellent.

I don't like these. They're more like brownies.
