Another wonderful German bakery item
I used to get these cakes when we lived in Germany, and wanted to experience that taste again back home, so I purchased this Cake mix and made one for myself. The mix was easy to make, and you simply follow the outlined process, and the cake will turn out great. Hey, if I can do it, then most others can also. Taste great and reminds me of the wonderful times I had.

Brought back memories eating my Aunt’S cake in Germany!
As I opened each package in the box, I could smell the quality and the authentic scent of the ingredients. I was impressed. The yeast worked great, I will however, because of the reviews, purchase my own yeast for the next box I buy just in case, because I don’t want to ruin the ingredients because it turned out so awesome. I especially love how everything was pre-measured and easy to work with. Also the instructions I thought were very well written, left no question and the step about cutting the top layer in sections before putting on the cake makes it so much easier to cut, what a great idea! My German mom & German husband loved it & said it was perfect. Now that’s a compliment. No offense to the makers but I did add some fresh whipping cream with a little confectioners sugar and a drop of almond extract to the filling because I didn’t feel like it was enough and also needed a bit more sweetness and I remember the faint almond flavor in the filling from how my oma & aunt used to make it. It really was delicious. Superb for coming out of a box. Will buy again.

The real deal
I added a sprinkling of sugar underneath the almonds and a capful of Mexican vanilla to the pudding. The cake is what Americans think of as bread. I would add 3 Tablespoons of sugar to the yeast and flour mixture next time because my family prefers a bit of sweetness. Excellent! I added 15 minutes to my bake time.

Did not rise, thin and hard
Like a previous reviewer experienced, this cake did not rise, possibly from old yeast or not enough of it. Cake was well within the best by date. Was less than an inch thick after baking and was too hard to cut with a fork. Could not eat it and was so glad we didn't bake it for company. It would be great to find a good Bee Sting cake but this is not one. Amazon should refund the price of this one.

Fine taste and texture but poor yeast.
Instructions say to use 10” pan but I used 9” pan to ensure it was thick enough to cut. I let it rise the maximum time and it early doubled in size. I was hoping it would rise more while baking but that rise was minimal. The top crust was very hard to cut neatly with a very sharp knife. I love cinnamon so I sprinkled a little on top after baking. Good cream filling.

Interesting
The yeast was out of date so the cake did not rise. However; the flavor was good. The creamy center was awesome and the almond tops was good. I’m sending a kit to my sister to see if she likes it as well.

Excellent cake. It's addictive!
This cake takes a few steps to make it and it's expensive but it is very delicious!

Fantastic
I didn't actually eat it but I made it and people that know what this cake is supposed to taste like loved it and couldn't believe it came from a boxed mix.
