Little Earthquakes: A Novel (Washington Square Press) Paperback – June 28, 2005

I enjoyed this book so much and it was hard to make myself do anything else but read this book!

Rating 4.5 starsIt’s never what anyone thinks when there’s a marriage and family. Life is a twisted mess in different ways for each of the characters but when they come together and have each others back and understanding this becomes such a great story. I really enjoyed all the characters and their different lives and the reasons each had to learn to forgive or even come to terms that life has its ups and downs and nothing is ever perfect. Always filled with little earthquakes.

Wonderful book about child loss and childraising. A Mom' s love of life and of her child or Children

Let me make this clear. I absolutely love the book. It is funny and dramatic. I read it over and over every now and again. I decided to order the audio book so my fiance and I could listen to it in the car together. He is not a big reader so this is my way of including him in books I love. The problem is that the audio book is missing a lot of scenes. There were scenes I absolutely loved in the book, but was surprised when they were no mentioned in the audio book. It was quite a disappointment. However, for the price it is still okay.

Even though I found the first half of this book rather slow, I'm glad I kept on reading. The story follows 4 pregnant women, who meet at a prenatal yoga class and become friends as they face their first months as mothers.What I liked about it was the many times I found myself relating to the characters in little details, the sense of "been there" and glad that I'm not the only one who's been through this.

I have read this book for a 2nd time now that I have become a mother and it is still good. Portrays how life is hard and bad things happen but there is still good in the world.

This book was read by the author, and she did a beautiful job. She intoned all the subtle jokes and really gave life to the emotions each character was feeling. Her voice is low, gentle and soft but very clear and audible, and portrays emotions well. So thumbs up for the reading.The book itself started out a bit slowly to me, since I like action a bit more than emotions, but by the second CD I was hooked and truly cared about each of the characters. It is definitely women's fiction, it deals a ton with emotions, babies, relationships, and a good portion of the book is women talking about these things with other women.Even with all the talking about feelings, this book managed to be a real hit with me, just because of the author's talent at writing believable characters into believable situations. I cried a few times through the book, and truly cared about what happened.The abridgement was unobtrusive - I wouldn't have known it was abridged if the audiobook hadn't been labeled as such.Fans of her previous books won't be disappointed.

Jennifer captures real life in her stories. We cry and laugh and rejoice with her characters. This book brought back the memories and emotions of being a new Mom for me. The relationships among her characters are rich. Some of her books have been around for a while but I feel I've discovered a new treasure and I'm definitely a fan. Thank you, Jennifer!

I absolutely loved this book. I enjoyed the way in which the characters interacted with each other. Some of the characters journeys were more beliveable than others but all of the females were strong and well written. Not all of the male characters were fleshed out fully but they were still enjoyable to read about.

I love this book - a great story for mums to be to read.

As someone who is 'at that age' of talking about babies etc, I devoured this book as a beach read on holiday. It's about a group pf very different women who are expecting and in very different situations, but who end up as great friends. Heartwarming.

This book is charming. It is however baby oriented, so be aware, and also gets a bit syrupy at the end,
