Great Initial trip
Time will tell if this bag is durable. But, upon initial impression, this is a well made bag. Definitely a heavy bag. But, I sturdy guy, so I don’t mind the weight at all, I have taken the bag on one short 3 days trip. It held two changes of clothes, my iPad, my laptop, and all of my toiletries. It was super efficient and versatile. It was very comfortable traveling through the airport and getting on and off the plane. I used it in briefcase, and backpack mode. If this bag holds up, it will be the best bag I have ever bought. I am a business professional of 35 years. I have owned and traveled with just about every style of bag and brief case. This bag has it all: rustic style, versatility and comfort. It if holds up, I will come back in a few months and share an update.

Terrific bag except for two design flaws
I purchased this bag as a gift for my boss. He is an attorney, but he loves backpacks, so I decided to get him the best of both worlds. This bag is excellent. The stitching is tight and durable. The zippers are smooth and even. I love how soft the leather is, and it's comfortable to wear. It was also perfect size.My only criticism is the zipper placement on the front pockets. Since this bag is supposed to function as both a briefcase and backpack, I expected the large pocket on the front to be accessible in both orientations. Unfortunately, its zipper only goes across one side of the pocket--the top when in backpack mode. This means it's on the right side in briefcase mode. I found that, when it's a briefcase, getting into that front pocket is a serious pain. This design flaw could be easily solved by having the zipper extend around left side of the pocket in backpack mode. That's way it's across the top and right side in briefcase mode, and you can access the contents of that pocket without spilling anything. My other pocket criticism is the termination point of the top right (in backpack mode) pocket's zipper. When the pocket is zipped shut, the zipper pull gets lost between the two small front pockets. Personally, I would have flipped the zipper so the pull is on the outside when the pocket's closed. That way it's more accessible for opening.Overall, this is a great bag save those two annoyances, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone in the market.

Good looking bag, but black is not really black
This is a rather expensive but very good looking bag. I can't comment on durability yet as I've only had it a few weeks but the exterior looks tough enough. I have seen other reviews stating the inner lining can be prone to tearing so that's something I will be looking out for. The versatility of the backpack to briefcase option was the biggest reason I went for this and it looks good in both forms. My biggest gripe is that the black option isn't a true black at all. It's definitely more of a dark brown, which I assume is darker than the real dark brown option. I ended up keeping the bag anyways. Some of the pockets seems a little tight given the type of leather, but that's just a trait of the leather. It's heavier than a non-leather bag, but of course that's another natural trait of the material. Overall, if you need a bag that can work as a backpack and briefcase, this is a great, albeit expensive option. If you only need the bag to serve in one form, they're probably other slightly cheaper, but just as good options.

Great initial impression
Just got this bag, so initial impressions only. The quality of materials seems to be fairly high for this price point. The leather, stitching, and strap attachments seem to be rugged enough for heavy use and neglect. Im hard on my stuff more by nature than intent, so will be testing the previous statement soon :) The conversion from backpack to shoulder-slung/carry is straightforward, but not something that you would be able to accomplish in ten seconds. I like that the unused straps stow away out of snaggable range. The only thing that I dont care for in this process is the opened zippers for the in-use straps. Its not a big deal, and I dont know how to easily work around that design, but its an open pocket.Inside the bag is laid out reasonably well. My biggest complaint in here is the velcro retaining straps on some of the nooks and crannies. If this bag lasts as well as it looks like it will, the velcro will be un-velcro’d well before the rest of the bag is wore out. I would have liked to see some sort of magnetic claspy thing or perhaps snaps or buttons, but thats a minor quibble. The only real complaint regarding the main compartment is that it doesnt open as wide as Id like. Between the less-flexible-than-cloth leather and a zipper that doesnt go more than two-thirds around the compartment, Ive got to kinda pull the bag open to peer inside. This will no doubt improve as the bag begins to see more use.Overall, this bag is, if anything, more than Id hoped for when purchasing it at this point. If something changes will update.

Best Bag Yet.
I was looking for a versatile bag that I could wear as a backpack to get around the city, but that would convert to a professional looking briefcase when I went to meetings and such. Furthermore, I needed a bag large enough to carry all of my things as my bag serves as a mobile office.I liked the look of the bag as soon as it arrived. It is high-quality, durable, and very fashionable. I waited to write a review to see how the bag did in real world circumstances, and this bag has made it through two months of heavy use (and some of abuse) And came through like a champ.I think the most telling piece of information that I can share is the startling number of compliments I have gotten on the bag. There is not a single meeting that I have taken it to where somebody hasn’t made a positive comment about it.***Now 8 months in. The lining is starting to tear (due to the tremendous amount of abuse I put the bag through) and even still it is holding strong. I though once the tear started that the whole thing might start coming apart, but it is very durable.

Strap was not included
Nice bag, seems to be well built. the messenger bag strap was not included and there is no way to find Tidings on the web or interact with their customer service so I had no choice but return the bag.
